FREE CARE-GIVING COURSE FOR FILIPINOS LAUNCHED IN ROME 22 May 2014 - The Assistenti Familiari Corso Gratuito, or free care-giving course, that is intended for migrant workers in Rome was launched at Rome’s Municipio VIII on May 16. This project, fully supported by the Roma Capitale and funded by Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Rome, the Overseas Worker’s Welfare Office in Manila, and the Dangal ng Guardians Philippines International Inc. (DGPII), among others, will provide a free care-giving certification course to 30 selected Filipinos in Italy. The first batch of Filipino students who were present during the launch all committed to devote time and effort to the course, for a total of 60 hours of theoretical and practical training. Consul Enrique Voltaire Pingol, Vice Consul Jarie Osias, Welfare Officer Loreta Vergara, and DGPII President Judito Estopacia were also present during the event. Filipino migrant workers in Italy are mostly college degree holders and professionals in the Philippines. The Assisttenti Familiari Corso Gratuito Project aims to facilitate their further integration in the Italian labor system. The Philippine Embassy in Rome congratulates the first batch of Filipinos participating in the course. END
