Mental Health First Aid Mental health in the workplace is everyones business; One in six employees are likely to experience problems with stress, anxiety or depression at any one time. Stress, anxiety and depression are responsible for 70 million sick days every year. In 2009/10, it was estimated that mental health problems that were not being supported cost UK businesses £30.3bn per annum. This is equivalent to £1,206 per employee per year (Centre for Mental Health, 2010). Our Trust has a number of staff who are approved Mental Health First Aid instructors. We can provide; MHFA Lite course which is a three hour introductory mental health awareness course which enables participants to: Gain a wider understanding, for yourselves and others, of some issues surrounding mental health. Gain a greater understanding of how and why positive and negative mental health affects business. Work more effectively with people experiencing mental health problems Introduce the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course (Maximum number of participants on the course is 25 and a minimum of 6).
