FREE PETER GRESTE: One year since the arrest of Australian journalist Peter Greste in Cairo, the Free Peter Grest Facebook community shared this post. On December 29, 2013, Greste and two other Al Jazeera journalists, Mohamed Fadel Fahmy and Baher Mohammad, were arrested by authorities. Grest was sentenced to seven years on June 23, 2014, for news reporting that was deemed damaging to national security. No one would have thought that 12 months down the track the fight for his freedom would continue. The Greste family would like to thank all of those who have initiated their own acts of support and protest, written letters, given time and money and shared countless posts on Facebook and twitter. We have a few more days of finger crossing to go, bring on January 1st, which is the next opportunity for Egypt to correct this huge injustice.
