FREE WORKSHOPS TO DEVELOP RECOVERY FOCUSED SERVICES Friday, 07 June 2013 This Autumn, SRN and NES are running a new series of free events for service users, caregivers and practitioners to support the development of recovery oriented services. Building on our previous Learning Network events, SRN in partnership with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) are running a series of 1-day workshops in September 2013 to provide learning and networking opportunities that bring together a wide range of people to discuss and learn from each other around the subject of recovery and what best practice looks and feels like. Please note that you can also download the information set out below in a separate sheet here. The link to the online application form is at the bottom of this page. INTRODUCTION SRN and NES have a long-standing partnership in the support of recovery focused practice and mental health service improvement. The Scottish Recovery Indicator (SRI 2) service improvement tool is a key component in that partnership. The workshops provide learning and networking opportunities bringing together a wide range of people to share learning around recovery focused and person centred practices and service development. Previous sessions have been highly evaluated and seen as inspiring and energising and most importantly have led to action and change. These new workshops are a continuation and development of that process. WORKSHOP AIMS The aims of the workshops are to enable participants to: Gain expertise in recovery focused and person centred practice Enable greater involvement by service users and carers in service improvement Understand how to implement the SRI 2 to drive service improvements Build alliances with others working in the recovery field Enable connections between the SRI 2 and wider policy initiatives and work streams Provide a forum to share and promote recovery focused policies and practices Provide an energising space for reflection and inspiration Gain access to the latest guidance on the ‘how to’ of recovery focused and person centred practices All of these aims are designed to enhance the service user and carer experience of mental health services in Scotland and to improve recovery outcomes. The workshops will provide you with the accumulated knowledge and experience gained through recovery focused service development over the past few years. TARGET AUDIENCE Recovery and mental health service improvement is everybody’s business, therefore the workshops are open to anyone with an interest in mental health service improvement, including: Social workers including Mental Health Officers Mental health nurses Carers and carers group representatives Service users and service user group representatives Allied Health Professionals Voluntary sector workforce Psychiatrists Psychologists General practitioners Addiction workers We know from our previous experiences of SRI 2 that the ideal way to bring about recovery focused service improvement is for practitioners, service users and carers to work together using SRI 2 to develop meaningful action plans that lead to better outcomes. NHS staff: please note attendance at these workshops will support the commitment to implement SRI 2 as part of the Leading Better Care and Realising Potential programmes. WORKSHOP LOCATIONS, DATES AND TIMES The workshops will be run in September 2013 as per the table below – six times in five different cities across Scotland: Aberdeen; Dundee; Edinburgh; Glasgow (runs twice); and Inverness. Every workshop will run from 9.30am to 4pm.
