FREEDOM Fact: We all come from the same African Ancestor. Race (the concept) and Racism (the deadly deceit) were created to justify the enslavement and genocide of Black and Brown skinned people and to further European conquest. To move beyond the pathos that is racism, we must acknowledge the role that white privilege plays in the continuation of racism - a learned condition that has been acknowledged as a national public health issue. White privilege supports racism. I applaud all of our white family members who are doing their work around white privilege and encourage you to shift power to Black led, organized, honored spaces. Support our businesses, stop actions that push us further from the table of equity - be willing to give up your seat and stand. Thank you for pushing ego and discomfort aside and acknowledging that this time instead of soundbites and feel good images of unity - equity for people of color will be the priority.
