FREEDOM MOSAIC: JANE STEMBRIDGE Jane Stembridge, a poet, activist, and student who heard Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. give a speech in New York early in the Civil Rights Movement. She, thereafter, became active in the formation of SNCC. At the request of Ella Baker, Jane became the organizations first field secretary serving with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Visit The Freedom Mosaic to learn more obscure facts and details about the lives and dreams of the survivors of Freedom Summer. As consulting historian and project manager of this initiative of the new National Center for Civil and Human Rights, sponsored by the Ford Foundation in New York, this was a labor of utmost importance, love, and passion. I was and am honored and grateful for the opportunity to be in the midst of courageous people like JANE STEMBRIDGE. Check out her page on The Freedom Mosaic. freedommosaic/jane-stembridge
