FREEDOM! Today, I’m 60 years old. And couldn’t be happier. I can do and say what I want, sing for no reason and fart and pretend I don’t hear it. Now, if I’m ever in a hostage situation, I’m likely to be the first to be released! I don’t have time to complete a Soduku puzzle. I can make up ridiculous personal history like, I was a sniper in the Great Silicon war or Before grinding, we used to have to eat sandwiches between handfuls of straw! I can march right into fast food establishments and demand both free coffee and my dry cleaning! I can shake my fist at non-existent hooligans in my yard, “Those are MY sticks!” I can try and drive the length of North Carolina with my left turn signal on. I might try to hike the Appalachian trail in my bunny slippers. I can forget where I put my whatever those are and not feel bad! Chances are if buy a new coffee maker, it will outlive me, but I’ll still have to learn how to use some new ‘hover’ technology. I’ve winnowed my brain cells down to two manageable bookends. I can be against things for no discernible reason: These new-fangled pencils aren’t made the way they used to be!’’ And I’m just getting started!
