FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2014: This past Tuesday our nation celebrated “Giving Tuesday.” This new tradition is about charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world coming together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. Giving our time, talents and resources brings such HOPE to others, but it also impacts our own lives. This season can be difficult for a lot of people in our world. Financial stress can be at an all-time high. Those that have lost family members or friends in their lives can really experience the grief during the Christmas season. There are people that are dealing with pain and sickness. Some are ready to skip this season and start with the New Year, while some may wonder if they will even make it to the New Year. We are watching our nation is cry out for HOPE. During my own quiet times with God I have prayed for God to come in and intervene! I tell God, “OK it is time. It is time for you to come back or at least come do some miracles to bring good back into our world.” Well God has not come back physically yet, but God has made me very aware that goodness is here. Goodness is me. Goodness is you! Goodness is when we live with a thankful and HOPEFUL heart and we give to others. God created us to be used right here on this earth while we wait for Jesus’ return. Where can you show someone HOPE today? How does God want you to LOVE others? Allow these two great reminders to be your mission as you enter the weekend: The GREATEST Commandment: “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He (Jesus) replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” Matthew 22:36-40 (CEB) The GREAT Commission (to us as his followers): Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him, but some doubted. Jesus came near and spoke to them, “I’ve received all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.” Matthew 28:16-20 (CEB) HAVE A GREAT, GIVING, HOPEFUL WEEKEND! See you Monday! Love, Kristen Tucker
