FRIDAY, JANUARY 24TH 2014 BIG GOD “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, God appeared to him and told him, “I am the Almighty; obey me and live as you should. I will prepare a contract between us, guaranteeing to make you into a mighty nation. In fact you shall be the father of not only one nation, but a multitude of nations!...” (Genesis 17:1-4 TLB) You know, some people would find it very difficult to believe God can keep them alive till they’re 70, much less 99. God didn’t only keep Abraham alive till he was 99 years old, He also told him he was going to have a child at that age. God knew the man had no son by his wife Sarah, and that everybody had concluded that they would die childless. But God waited for him to be 99. As far as He was concerned, life was just beginning for the man! He told Abraham, “This is my package for you: I am cutting a covenant with you, and you’re going to prosper.” So at age 99, and at a period when Abraham could have said “God, I am just about giving up on Your promise now,” God told him, “You’ve only just begun! “God told Abraham that there was nothing He couldn’t do for him, and He is telling you the same today. It’s never too late with God! If you think you’re prospering now, you haven’t started yet. If you’re thinking, “This is just good enough for me” or “Things couldn’t be better than this,” you haven’t started yet, because God is full of pleasant surprises for you. In verse 6 of Genesis chapter 17, God told Abraham “…I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.” If God could do that for a 99-year-old man and say to him, “I’m cutting this covenant with you and with your seed forever,” then He’s only just begun with you. God gave Abraham His Word and He kept it, and He has not changed. What He has promised you, He is well able to and surely will perform in your life. BIBLE IN A YEAR: Proverbs 31 PROCLAMATION: I know that I am a candidate for God’s pleasant surprises. My life is a testimony of God’s grace and doings! RHEMA DAILIES.
