FRIDAY LUNCH I turned the ignition key and pointed my car - TopicsExpress

FRIDAY LUNCH I turned the ignition key and pointed my car towards Bendigo… pushed in a CD and pressed play. Two hours to listen to conversations, interviews and wisdom. Like going to university in the relaxing comfort of your car. A natural curiosity for what makes people, businesses and teams tick. So many parallels between business and sport. Destination - Prince of Wales Showgrounds, Bendigo, Victoria. Event - 21st National Works and Engineering Conference. Lunch with Tangles. I was the closing speaker… KOMATSU has been the major sponsor for the past 5 years. Nestled alongside the exhibition stands were assorted vintage motor cars - beautiful in design. Magnetic to my eye and camera. Wonderful to be able to meet many of the delegates for a chat and a photo. Memorable for me… a quick pic with a young woman named Cathy…. who immediately returned to her table, excited. “I’ve just had my photo taken with Merv Hughes!” I couldn’t help but mention her from the platform. Nothing sacred at her table. Her mates couldn’t wait to share her story with me. Take two… another photo. This time with Tangles. It happens more often than not. Thanks Cathy. Congratulations to Stephen Robertson, Chairman, National Works Officers Association, on a compelling conference.
