FRIDAY MARCH 21, 2014 Drink and Ill water your camels too. Ge 24:46 NIV HOWS YOUR WORK ETHIC? (2) When Abrahams servant arrived in the town of Nahor, a young woman named Rebekah offered to give him a drink of water. When he had finished drinking, Rebekah said, Ill water your camels too. We are told that she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran back to the well. It all sounds fairly unremarkable, until you read between the lines; one gallon of water weighs eight pounds. A thirsty camel can drink up to thirty gallons of water, and there were ten camels. Do the math. Rebekah is drawing three hundred gallons of water FOR A STRANGER. She does all that could be reasonably expected of her-and then some. This was a PIVOTAL MOMENT IN HER LIFE. Because of her act of service, Rebekah became the wife of Isaac and went on the adventure of a lifetime, becoming part of sacred history. To this day, her name is remembered and revered by people of faith. Rebekah did not know all that was at stake that day. She did not offer to draw three hundred gallons of water because she KNEW what the reward could be. IT WAS SIMPLY AN EXPRESSION OF HER HEART. Rebekah proved the truth of Scripture: LAZY PEOPLE WANT MUCH BUT GET LITTLE, BUT THOSE WHO WORK HARD WILL PROSPER (Pr 13:4 NLT). Where did we get the idea that it is wrong to give expecting a return or serve expecting a reward? Certainly not from the Bible! Some of our rewards will come in this lifetime, others in the next one. But, You KNOW that the Lord WILL reward everyone for whatever GOOD he does (Eph 6:8 NIV). My Thoughts: I gleaned some much from this powerful lesson on this afternoon. This lesson should show us all what great benefits are offered to us when we go BEYOND what is expected. Some do just want is asked, but the bigger blessing come into play when we go beyond just doing !! There are some blessings in my own life, and Im not bragging, but simply stating a fact, that I have been given because of being prompted of the Holy Ghost to not only DO something, but to go over and above. I was raised with the scripture that says, Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; (Ecclesiastes 9:10a). Just think how that young lady was so WILLING to do in excellence for a SERVANT !!!!!! Sad to say this but its nevertheless true, many even today, would run themselves ragged for someone that they thought was mighty, but not in their own eyes, give beyond to someone of low estate. Yes, Rebekah has been gone for centuries, but her one (1) act of OBEDIENCE BEYOND THE NORM has CATAPULTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME. Great blessings comes from doing many times, ordinary things. When we do in secret, the Lord remembers and He WILL REWARD US OPENLY.
