FRIDAY PRAYER ALERT: On Monday this week, Frans van der Lugt, a Jesuit priest who refused to leave the embattled city of Homs, was assassinated - taken outside his house and shot dead. Also known as Abouna Francis or Father Francis - the 75-year-old Dutchman was a beloved pastor who had worked in Syria for more than 40 years and in solidarity with the few remaining Christians in Homs refused to leave the city. Colleague Rev. Ziad Hillal, called van der Lugt ‘a ray of joy and hope to all those trapped in the Old City of Homs’ where he was often seen on his bike as he went to tend the elderly and disabled. Please pray for the protection of the few remaining Christians in Homs - there are less than 30 left...
