FRIDAY, September 26 Acts 19:21 Paul resolved in the Spirit to go through Macedonia and Achaia, and then to go on to Jerusalem. He said, “After I have gone there, I must also see Rome.” From our comfortable perspective of two thousand years, it is easy to gloss over the messy details of how the Good News went out into the world. Yes, we know the early Christians faced persecution, but our condensed version of the story goes something like this: Jesus taught and performed miracles for three years; he was crucified, died, and resurrected; the Holy Spirit on Pentecost empowered the apostles to preach the gospel; the early days were hard and some people died for their faith; and then there was Christianity.
