FRIENDS OF HAWAII CHARITIES, INC. GRANTS $4,000 TO BAY CLINICS PEDIATRIC CARE PROGRAM HILO, HAWAII ISLAND, June 16, 2014 - the Friends of Hawai’i Charities, Inc. grants Bay Clinic’s Pediatric Care Management Program $4,000 that will be used to further promote preventative health care outreach and education activities. Bay Clinic’s Pediatric Care Management Program provides childhood immunizations, developmental screening, preventative dental care, as well as non-emergency primary medical care for all children regardless of insurance status living in East and South Hawai’i Island. Poor nutrition and limited access to health care are known to cause mental and other developmental delays that affect a child’s ability to learn and develop good social skills and untreated medical and dental diseases are major factors in excessive absences from school. Bay Clinic’s keiki-focused programs help East and South Hawai’i Island children have a good start in life. “As a patient centered medical home, our services are designed to provide coordinated and comprehensive primary medical and dental care for our patients from birth and throughout their lives,” said Harold Wallace, Bay Clinic CEO. The goal of the Pediatric Care Management Program is to increase access to primary medical and dental health prevention, screening, treatment, and education services for all children, and most especially the children who would otherwise not have timely access to healthcare. Please call any one of Bay Clinic’s primary medical care centers - Hilo Family Health Center, Kea’au Family Health and Dental Center, Pahoa Family Health Center, and Ka’u Family Health and Dental Center - to make an appointment for your keiki. If you would like your child to be seen by a pediatrician, please call our Kea’au Family Health and Dental Center at 930-0400 and schedule an appointment with Dr. Tamara Todd or call our Pahoa Women and Children’s Health Center at 965-3038 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Richard Penland. To make a dental appointment for your keiki, please call the Bay Clinic dental center nearest you at Hilo Family Dental Center at 333-3600, or the Kea’au Family Health and Dental Center at 930-0415, or the Ka’u Family Health and Dental Center at 929-7311. ###
