KHALID CHAUDHRY DPO MUZAFFARGARH, Sept 6th:Rana Abdul Jabbar District Police Officer (DPO) said that it was the duty of the police to protect the life, honour and property of the citizens. “I have waged Jihad against criminals and the policemen failing to participate in it will have to lose their jobs,” .Delivering his speech at meeting of the families of saheeds of police,public of Muzaffargarh district, Politician and army at police line here on Friday. Rana Jabbar said that police would give due respect to respectable citizens while the criminals would be dealt with an iron hand. He said that petty disputes and cases of money would be resolved through reconciliation (Masalahati) committees and police would give due honour to the decisions of these committees.He said that Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) would be established at District level while Masalahati Committees would be established at Police Station Level to solve the disputes of petty nature through the respectable of the area. Further more, the issues related to law and order situation at the time of religious events are resolved with the cooperation/help of the members of the said committees. Resultantly easy access to general public could have been possible and the said committees are helpful to assist the police and to save its time for other multifarious duties.Article 168 of the Police Order, 2002 empowers the government to establish Citizen Police Liaison Committees as voluntary,restricted to provision of support to the police and public oversight bodies established under the Order.Specific functions of the Committees are: Developing mechanisms for liaison between aggrieved citizens and police for providing relief; and Assistance to Provincial and District Public Safety and Police Complaints Commissions and the police for expeditious and judicious discharge of their duties.He told that People can call to complain if the police does not promptly register First Information Reports (FIRs) or does not properly investigate cases. The committee’s objective was to help people out in certain matters without approaching the court, he said adding that the committee would initially take up issues like the police not registering cases, family matters and improper investigations as well as set up a helpline. He said that the committee was also offering ‘Alternate Dispute Resolution’ services with the consent of the parties concerned.He said that the police would be very cooperative with CPLC Muzaffargarh on everyday issues it pointed out.He vowed to alleviate the miseries and pains of the people and ensuring them peace, security of life and property, dignity.He said that Muzaffargarh Police was introducing a policing at Union council level with the help of reconciliation committee and other peace loving people. we would collect information from the low-level because common man knows better about his environment.MNA Jamshad Ahmed Khan Dasti, MNA Ashiq Gophang, Ex-Tehsil Nazim Khazir Guphang and others were present on the occasion.
