FROM IFES DESK Nigerians Versus Israelites In the face of the vagrant statements of the deluded and lunatic Islamic sect leader, Shekau whose activities have, like greetings long exceeded the elbow, there should be immense efforts by Nigerians as a people to bring back serenity. Are we still sitting over our bowls of Fufu/Amala and Ewedu/Onugbi soups passing the buck? ~ Analyzing what GEJ, the Americans, our neighbors, the security operatives etc did or didnt do? Are we seriously still in that business of ranting on our social sites over whose fault it is that the demented Shekau and the miscreants he fronts are ruining us; noticing grammatical errors, wrongly and maliciously quoting and deciphering clueless and I-sabi-all faces of our Leaders? Listen to me ~ for some of us who are conversant with the old testament of the bible, the Israelites roamed in the wilderness for 400 years before being ushered into the Promised land for the following reasons which are also obviously taking a toll in Nigeria: Criticisms ~ They criticized their leader all the time and never believed in the divine calling of the one on whom the lot fell to manage their affair ... Critical Analysts! ------- Nagging ~ They never seized to complain about everything including their own mistakes ... Sadists! -------- Unfruitful ~ They were only good in pulling down and never making any effort to provide solutions to the many challenges ... Bunch Of blackheads! -------- Disorganized ~ They were unable to coordinate the different strata in their midst in other to devise strategies that will meaningfully bring about a change for the better ... Peacocks! --------- Segregated ~ Every tribe remained glued to its calling; and refuting any urge to cross the borders of responsibility ... Clueless Persons! ---------- Materialistic ~ They loved carnality above everything else and always desired the kind of life they couldnt afford ... Shylocks! ----------- Impatient ~ Exercising the virtue of long suffering was one they couldnt figure out doing. They wanted to jump from Step 1 of the ladder to Step 130 ... Ridiculous! ----------- Ungrateful ~ They were unappreciative of the help they received in time and couldnt appreciate either where they were headed ... Ingrates! ----------- Shortsighted ~ They couldnt even visualize what the Promised land was like and happily stroll towards it with a big heart ... Blind folks! ------------ Hypocritical ~ They blamed God and their leaders all the time for putting them through much suffering but they were actually the unfaithful party ... Hypocrites! ------------ Hardly Impressed ~ Magical exit from Egypt, Red Sea Miracle, Quails provision and dresses and sandals which grew with them couldnt convince them at all ... Alaroros! ------------- Flirtatious ~ Easily running after smaller gods that were unable to help them was the most awkward attitude of these Israelites. No better word to describe them ... Ndi iberibe! ------------- Violent ~ Wondering how they successfully arm twisted Aaron to make them a god with their gold ornaments ... Freaking bullies! ------------- Cowardly ~ With their constant unhealthy ranting, they were never able to face God. They always relied on Father Moses to intercede ... Serious mumus! ------------- Faithless ~ They never believed in the instruments set aside by God to hasten their deliverance. They pushed these against the wall all the time, and elongated their trial period ... Disgusting peeps! Nigerians ... - Criticize everything even when one is silent ~ As in, everything is an offense! - Lack that sense of responsibility --- You vi Hawusa, E mi ni Yoruba jare, Nwaafor Igbo ka m bu, Na Naija Delta I from come no try ... Ethnicities abound! - For Love of money will import irrelevant military armaments, supply information to the enemy camp and even sell out our own kin! - Cannot patiently allow viable plans to be launched. They prefer fire brigade approach to issues that has left Nigeria in its present state of utter disintegration! - Are unable to appreciate any good around them. They only have eyes to notice mistakes and never exalt goodness! - Never see the end of a thing from its beginning. They are the most absurd pessimists! - Are carried away by every doctrine, even foreign journalists tell them what to believe of their country. Shamelessness! - Had many baskets overflowing with grudges for every one who has ruled them. They never see good in anyone even themselves! - Are unable to conceive a positive vision and sustain it with wisdom. They mangle their vision talking too much! - Cannot take risks yet they want to live restful. They are yet to realize that fighting is risky and talking is suicidal! - Load their prayers in one truck and board another loaded with doubts and bickering. How victorious can an unstable man be? - Are easily angered. What happens to the man who is unable to control his emotional outburst? ... Please research, I am at a loss.
