FROM: Lis Sun A post dabbling on the topic of professional help - therapy; and the natural coping skill that most of us have - rumination. Rumination is deemed to be undesired in psychology as it tends to lead to persistent worrying and brooding. Rumination is our way to formulate rationale to help us make sense of things around us. Without the rationality, our emotions are all over the places, and we dont do emotions very well. Emotion overload is one of the reason why we go into meltdown and shutdown. I also try to provide insights into the seeking the right help and adopting a positive attitude towards humility. As we crave for knowledge (which helps support the skill to rationalise), our (plentiful) knowledge can result in complacency and conceit and get in the way for us to get effective help to deal with problems such as anxiety and depression etc. Share the post if you find it helpful.
