FROM Lisa Lamboo Tips for finding your kitty. Here are some tips that DO help people to be reunited with their missing kitties:............ here are some tips to help find kitty.................Be sure to leave out fresh food and water daily for your cat (on your front doorstep and back deck if possible). Make up a shelter for him so that if he returns when youre not home or in the night he has a cozy spot to rest in. Even if its just a cardboard box turned onto its side with a cozy thick comforter or blanket inside. Put something into it with your cats scent (their cat bed, a pillow case they maybe often sleep on)...and something with YOUR Scent (unwashed t-shirt or bath towel etc). Also.....sprinkle the contents of his litterbox around the perimeter of your yard. cats have a very sharp sense of smell and this helps them, if lost, to pick up the familiar scent find their way back home. Get up in the night a few times to see if hes on your porch/deck..... Go around door to door (this is very critical) with a good picture of him and ask your neighbors face to face to check inside their garage, sheds, UNDER DECKS, etc......lost cats will instinctively hide and in doing so often get trapped in places. As it gets cool at night now its all the more reason for them to hole up somewhere to stay warm. Make sure the neighborhood kids have seen good pictures of him so that they can be on the look-out..let them know (if you can) that theres a cash reward. If hes the skittish type make sure you tell them NOT to try and pick him up but to call you immediately if they think they spot him. If there are any homes under construction in the area be sure to check those......cats will often hide out in these. Post posters up in & around your area. Put a poster up in your own yard, if anyone sees/has your cat they know where s/he belongs. Put posters up in all local vet clinics, pet stores, etc. Leave or email all info along with pictures to animal services & SPCA. Call often & go look in person! Only the owner truly knows their fur baby! Post on Petlynx Go here for various tips on finding your pet https://facebook/.../583293538380498 Tips from Susan Marr how to go thru sites Okay, now that ur Familiar w/ looking at Intakes for Petlynx - i wud like u go back and start un-filtering ur Search to include all colours and dates which are simple typos (eg. Found Sept instead of Oct or mostly Black instead of Grey..etc).. Then un-filter further by changing Species to Dogs.. i know it sounds odd but have seen typos that result in wrong folders - easy to Spot w/ photos - must read the un-photoed Reports as well.. Also check Lost Cats and Lost Dogs because sometimes the general public or Animal Services for that matter has Reported a Lost Cat when in fact it is a Found Cat.. We all make mistakes.., so just double-checking is a really great idea.. Also Classified in Edmonton Sun/Journal/etc Community Paper, notify all local vets and provide a poster for a reminder, also local businesses in the area he was lost - can expand those locations later-on.. take care, sue hart Tips for Lost and Found Animals on this site Check the following links for great information on finding a pet or an owner! ...
