FROM MY BLOG.... MY BIG GOOD WORLD February 29, 2012 at 6:19pm Every child is a divine appointment laden with lateral and out of the box agenda. As children we have all weaved this dreamland around us and lived in it. A dream land such that, was beyond all biases, conditions, and an easy let go kinda approach. World that defied all reasoning put forth till date by many nobel laurels or lesser known scientists too. As tiny tots, we have all had our share of random beliefs, as teenagers we have nurtured best beliefs, secret beliefs, “ I know it all” beliefs, love beliefs and the list is just endless . If I were to talk about myself….then oh….I used have this beautiful make believe world of my own. Join me in this journey of my wonderland ….and I promise you all, that somewhere you too would recollect and identify, and say…Oh yesss Mala….even I used to think so..!!! As a kid and as a teenager my random beliefs were something like as follows: 1) White Elephants lived among st the clouds , hence we cant spot them. 2) White fluffy clouds are softer than my moms pashmina shawl …!!!! 3) We all live inside the earth and sky is the outer cover of the earth. 4) People born on Feb 29 would hardly get to celebrate their birthdays…. 5) Ghosts wore the white sarees…..uski sari mere sari se safed kaise…!!!! 6) The moon and the clouds would taste like sugar floss…yummmyyyy 7) Noodles….are made up of real worms….so I avoided them. 8) Thunderbolts meant God is rearranging his furniture and rains meant He just washed his courtyard and garage…!!!! 9) Broken tooth needs to be buried and you are sure shot to get lovely presents from fairies. 10) 10.Close your eyes and keep that stray eyelash on your palm and wish…..it will soon be fulfilled…….Alas if only life was that easy…!!! 11) Pluck a flower and remove each petal by saying saying…( he loves me….he loves me not…) till you end up tonsuring the poor flower… 12) Babies are born only and only after marriage….!!! 13) Trees would grow in your tummy incase you swallowed a seed…imagine 14) Leaves , flowers, trunks all branching out of one’s ears and nostrils… 15) Spotting a single Myna wasn’t a good omen….infact the belief can be sung as: 16) 1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for letter and 4 for boy, 5 for silver and 6 for gold… 17) 15. Rains with partial sunshine meant….wow the Foxes are getting married…. Besides all these random beliefs, I also had this constant shoulder companion with me and I called her Ria…I guess most of you who do not have siblings….too might have had a shoulder friend like mine. Ria would be with me, always, no fights and no arguments. Be it my marks, my thoughts, my curshes, my days programme she knew it all. Life for most of us was very light and frothy then …because………. WE FOLLOWED OUR OWN STAR AND WERE GUIDED BY OUR OWN INNER COMPASS…… Amo a todas….. mala ramnath
