FROM ST. MARYS SUBMARINE MUSEUM FACEBOOK PAGE: To all our friends and followers out there, we want to ask for your assistance in replacing our Handicapped Chair Lift which we use to take our Veterans and other disabled visitors at the Museum to the Second Floor. The chair lift was used and donated to the Museum back in 1995 before we opened and has served us well for the past 18 years, for which we are most grateful. It is out of commission and cannot be repaired due to its age, mechanical problems and lack of available parts, so the Museums Board of Directors has authorized the purchase of a new one and has approved a fundraising campaign to pay for the new installation. The cost is appx. $2800 and so far we have raised $900 toward the purchase and installation of the new chair lift. Anyone who donates $100 or more will be listed on a Plaque at the bottom of our stairwell by the new chair. Additionally, anyone who donates any amount to the Museum for this project will receive a letter from the BOD President and Executive Director documenting your donation, enabling you to deduct your donation from your Income Taxes. We appreciate any and all support for this important project that folks can contribute. We look forward to being back in operation soon to allow our Disabled Veterans and other Handicapped Visitors the ability to view our second floor at the Museum. If you have any questions please feel free to call Keith Post, Executive Director of the Museum at 912-882-2782 or by email at [email protected] . THANK YOU for your consideration of this request, we appreciate your support! (These photos are of our old chair lift that will be replaced by a new modern one.)
