FROM STAN SCHLUETER (BAA LIFE MEMBER, FORMER BOARD MEMBER, & FORMER TEXAS STATE REPRESENTATIVE): "Judge Starr says that the proposal to dissolve the BAA will result in alumni having a seat and a voice at the regent table. (July 29, 2013 Starr email re: Baylor Forward.) Yet Judge Starr is smart enough to know this is a false promise. The alumni regent position contemplated in the proposal would be selected by the board of regents and an alumni advisory committee controlled by Baylor University. It is not a regent elected by or accountable to other alumni or to an independent alumni association. The so-called “alumni regent” would be a non-voting position and therefore would have no power on the board. The proposal would require this non-voting regent to sign a confidentiality agreement prohibiting the regent from providing transparency or accountability."
