FROM: SUNDAYS OPEN Q & A The wicked inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah perished in their sins when God rained fire and brimstone on them. The peoples of these cities were unaware that God was about to destroy them, as only righteous Lot and his family heeded the angels warning and departed from there. While people of Noahs time were warned, were they not also unaware until the flood came that Judgment had begun? Likewise, whenever God finally completes His spiritual judgment upon the entire world of unsaved (most probably on 10/07/15), is it Gods mercy that they will be as unaware as those of Sodom and Gomorrah or during Noahs time? ANSWER God doesnt lay out every detail in each of the accounts related to the end. For instance with the flood of Noahs day the Lord made it a point to let all know that the world of that time was forewarned of the approaching judgment. In the case of Sodom, we do find that Lot attempted to warn his family members. But youre right that this would have left most of the people of the city without warning. God already warned the world concerning the shutting of the door of heaven (on May 21, 2011) and of Judgment upon them. Theres no need to repeat the warning for the very end of all things.
