FROM THE 1965 TARTAN written by Sherry Buelterman: Such sports as swimming, soccer, and tennis are available to Headland students to further develop their athletic skills. These sports allow more skills to be achieved through competition. The swimming team during the year participates in many dual meets as well as southeastern and state meets. The soccer team has gained enthusiasm as the seasons have passed. Competing in matches throughout the region has helped these boys develop vital skills. Headland has a tennis team which has earned state recognition by their winning. Both boys and girls are eligible for this sport. In the 1964 season, Ken Stanley won the 2-AA region championship.
