FROM THE ARCHIVES: SOUND FAMILIAR? — Who remembers the multi-page booklet sent to all Nantucket households by SBPF in an effort to generate community support for the beach-dredging project back in 2008? The proposal was withdrawn by SBPF after the citizens expressed their opposition by an overwhelming 85% vote at the ballot box. The interesting thing is that much of the same reasoning and language is being used again, this time to tout the virtues of hard-armoring the bluff with geotubes.
