FROM THE JONES GIRLS: HERD HEALTH UPDATE Well, it’s been a wild few weeks at the ranch. Harry is still on stall rest from his leg injury a few weeks back, when he got ambitious, decided to try and jump the gate to his pasture, and failed! Devon’s severe abscesses have been ongoing, requiring lots of vet visits and medication. And poor, dear Smither has been battling colic once again. He was on 24-hour watch, and thankfully pulled through with the amazing care of Patty the vet, and our wonderful team of herd caretakers; however, he now requires ongoing extra care and supplements to boost his health. Adding to this is the fact that boarding and feed costs at the ranch have gone up by about $30 per horse. As a result, funds are getting tight. Until recently, we had been able to pull from our cash reserves (from merch sales and donations coming in from outside our sponsor groups) to bridge the gap, but unfortunately, our cash buffer has now almost run out.
