FROM THE NEWSROOM: A pre-construction hearing will take place on September 19th or sooner regarding the Marianapolis Sewer Project in Thompson. State regulations are also requiring that a public hearing be held on the project, which citizens and Board of Selectmen members alike considered unreasonable. The Board had previously been told that this step was not necessary, but now word has been passed down from the State level mandating that the hearing be announced and scheduled, regardless of the fact that Thompson citizens have voted their approval of the sewer project in two separate referendums. The hearing will take place as an agenda item during the Board of Selectmen meeting on September 16th. On September 19th, or even sooner if paperwork from the Bond Commission and Marianapolis goes through before then, the engineering bid for the project will be officially awarded at a special pre-construction hearing.
