FROM THE NEWSROOM: Ann Monteiro and Paul Toussaint of the Empty Spaces Project in Putnam will be hosting the winners of an international iPhoneography contest called The Mobile Masters Proof Competition.” Toussaint, who is the lead curator of The Gallery On Main Street, explained that the second annual show – which features photography and artwork created with iPhones – includes work from 50 “Mobile Masters” from around the world. Artists from Paris, France, to Warwick, Rhode Island, will be visiting Putnam this May to see the photo collection featured in the Downtown Putnam gallery. According to Toussaint, this is also a great opportunity to promote both the Empty Spaces Project and local tourism; he said that hundreds of visitors come to the local area to see the gallery, spending the night at local inns and eating at local restaurants. The images will be on display at the Gallery on Main Street during the month of May; the opening reception will be free to the public on Saturday, May 3rd from 5 to 9 pm. Tune in for the full report.
