FROM THE NEWSROOM: Democratic State Senate President Pro Tem Don Williams “blasted Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) entities in written testimony submitted today to the General Assembly’s Public Safety and Security Committee for seeking to weaken Connecticut law which provides for basic protections for the health and safety of their fighters,” according to a press release from the Senators office. Williams stated in his testimony: “In mixed martial arts, the question of injuries is not whether they will occur, but when they will occur and how severe they will be. There is one reason and one reason only as to why the MMA corporations object—they do not want to be responsible for the full costs of injuries that they know will result in this sport.”
