FROM THE NEWSROOM: (ELECTIONS) Today at the polls, a few of Northeastern Connecticuts more rural towns will also have their say in who their lawmakers will be for this upcoming term; Andrea Penta, who works for the Hartford-based Covenants to Care For Children, is running on the Working Families Party ticket against Republican incumbent Tony Guglielmo for the 35th District State Senate Seat, which includes the towns of Woodstock, Pomfret, Eastford, Ashford and Union locally. Penta has previously said on WINY she wants to focus on improving the quantity of good jobs and benefits available in the state, setting fair tax policies, focusing on education, and ultimately crafting an economy that works for all of her constituents; incumbent Guglielmo has continued to criticize what he calls “corporate welfare” programs at the state level, and has also spoken out against off-budget spending.
