FROM THE NEWSROOM: GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut environmental officials are cleaning up a 50-gallon chemical spill on Interstate 95 in Greenwich. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said a tractor trailer operated by Kuhnle Brothers Inc. of Newbury, Ohio, was headed north on Thursday when the driver was alerted to a leak from the rear offloading valve area. The truck was carrying 3,400 gallons of a ferric chloride solution, which is toxic and corrosive. Its used for etching printed circuit boards and other metals. The driver moved the tractor trailer to a hazardous material containment area at a weigh station. The ferric chloride is being transferred to another trailer. The road was not closed. Company head Kim Kuhnle says the company is aware of the problem and is fixing it.
