FROM THE NEWSROOM: Pomfret residents will be asked to vote on a number of items at a special town meeting tonight, including the approval of two land acquisitions. The Abbington Cemetery Association and Pomfret School have each offered to donate parcels of land to the town that total to about 2.5 acres. The land, which is expected to be used to expand parking at the Pomfret Public Library, must to be accepted with a vote. The acceptance of a $166,000 Main Street Investment Fund grant for sidewalks on Route 44, as well as any funding that the private schools in the area contribute toward completion of the project, will also see a vote, along with a resolution to accept up to $10,000 in grant funding to construct an electric vehicle charging station on municipal land. The town meeting will be held at the Pomfret Community School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m.
