FROM THE NEWSROOM: Putnam Leo Club leaders say they recently completed its second annual “Cell Phone Recycle Campaign” and collection for Hope Phones, a used cell phone drive that connects under-served communities with mobile communication. Putnam Lion and Leo Advisor Al Cormier extended the collection deadline to allow the youth group to collect and donate exactly 100 phones – he picked up the final phone on Monday, in time for the Leos regularly scheduled meeting at Putnam High School. On Monday, February 17, 2014, The campaign was kicked off back on February 17th; The Hope Phones campaign supports the efforts of parent organization Medic Mobile, a non-profit group that works to advance health care in 11 countries with and through mobile technology. Cormier had extended the collection deadline to allow the youth group to collect and donate exactly 100 phones; a small monetary contribution was also received.
