FROM THE NEWSROOM: State police are investigating a case of a car shooting on I-395 Thursday. Thursday night, State Police Troop E received a 911 call reporting the caller believed his car had been shot at by a passing car; troopers responded to the scene on I-395, and a preliminary investigation which yielded physical evidence revealed a firearm had been discharged and struck the victims vehicle. A search of the area was conducted for a suspect with negative results, state police say. State Police Detectives from the Major Crime Squad responded to conduct the criminal investigation into this car shooting; it was determined the incident which reportedly started around 11:30 pm Thursday began when the occupants were traveling on Rt. 2 E/B in Norwich when a passing vehicle first threw an object at the car and later fired a gunshot at the automobile. Detectives are asking anyone with more information call state police 860-848-6534.
