FROM THE NEWSROOM: TORRINGTON, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut officials say a new Litchfield County courthouse thats been talked about for four decades will finally become a reality, with the expected approval of an $81 million building project in Torrington. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Tuesday that the State Bond Commission will vote Friday on borrowing the final $71 million needed for the new courthouse. A groundbreaking ceremony is expected in July. The 174,000-square-foot courthouse will have eight courtrooms and house operations now located in four buildings — Litchfield Superior Court, Bantam Superior Court, Juvenile Court in Torrington and a family services office. Three of those locations are leased. The project is expected to create more than 1,400 construction jobs. It would be the first new state courthouse since Bridgeport Juvenile Court opened in 2008. ___
