FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Bradley Playhouse wins the Scarecrow Contest, according to a news release. Jeanne Foley, Bradley Playhouse Board Member, accepted the 1st Place trophy in the Putnam Business Association’s 6th Annual Scarecrow Contest as part of the Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25th. The artist who constructed the display entitled “The Bradley Pumpkin Banshee” was Kathy Schora. Second place was won by Ann Monteiro at The Flying Carpet Studio for her creation “Cleaning Up Putnam” and the third place went to the Shopper’s Guide with Kim Miller constructing the display entitled “Mad Scientist”. The contest consisted of 22 entries displayed throughout downtown Putnam and on Providence St. and Route 44 as well. “Each entry is unique in design and adds so much atmosphere to our festival,” said Karen Osbrey, Chairperson of the festival. A group of nine members of the Putnam Business Association braved the wind and rain on Thursday to walk all over town judging the displays. The esteemed judges were Lee Konicki, Darlene Chase, Sarah Mortensen, Romeo Blackmar, Julie Watt, Jennifer Beckett, Chris Coderre, Ann Monteiro and Linda Lamoureux.
