FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Brooklyn Board of Fire Commissioners - TopicsExpress

FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Brooklyn Board of Fire Commissioners recently voted to consider switching to a new supplemental insurance policy for volunteer fire personnel who are disabled or unable to work, which supplements income and provides further medical benefits. Board member Jeffrey Otto says the current Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) Insurance Program does not provide the same level of benefits for volunteers and their families – including accidental death and dismember payments and supplements for cardiac impairment – as the new proposed policy underwritten by the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency (CIRMA). He also says because the town already uses CIRMA to provide other insurance benefits, this policy comes at a much lower premium. Tune in for the full report.
