FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Putnam Fire Department has been awarded $2,475 in federal funding via a grant through the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Division of Forestry. Fire Chief Bob Campbell says these grants are available annually, and the department will be reimbursed for 50% of its expenditures on any approved project, up to that allotted figure. So what does Putnam Fire Department have planned? Campbell says the department needs to purchase thirty new lengths of hose; he says some of the hoses are aging, dating back before 1987, requiring them to be replaced under a law that passed last year. Campbell said this is the second time the department has applied for this grant; last year, he said radios were purchased through this same grant. Tune in for the full report.
