FROM THE NEWSROOM: The State Bond Commission has approved grant funding for several projects impacting transportation and education in Northeastern Connecticut, including $785,000 of Local Bridge Program funds for bridge repairs on East Putnam Road over Mary Brown Brook in Putnam, according to a press release. Another $283,000 to finance design of parking and site improvements at Quinebaug Valley Community College in Danielson were also approved; this project consists of design and construction renovations which include perimeter campus roads, refurbishing curbing, striping and sidewalk improvements, drainage, site lighting replacements, and energy efficiency upgrades. $140,000 to replace six precision lathes at Ellis Tech in Danielson was also approved; this project is one of 12 projects receiving state funds to finance the purchase and installation of new and replacement equipment at technical high school facilities as part of the Manufacturing Cluster expansion.
