FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Woodstock Academy Board of Trustees has endorsed language spelling out how and when the sound system at the Bentley Athletic Complex will be operated, after neighbors expressed concerns about noise levels coming from the field during sporting events. The Academy has been working with neighbors to draft language for a set of guidelines related to the volume of the PA system and the frequency of its use. Headmaster Chris Sandford says meetings with neighbors have been productive; the Academy agreed to limitations on loud music. “Prior to this set of guidelines, music was played during practices, pre-game, after-game festivities,” says Sandford. “Under the new guidelines, there will be no music at all during practices of any kind.” He says the only time there will be music played at the field will be during the National Anthem at the start of a game, or during halftime events. Those who rent the complex wont be able to use the sound system at all. Sandford says the guidelines were based on feedback from neighbors in the Woodstock Historic District. The Academys Building and Grounds Committee is looking into ways to limit the use of other unsanctioned items like air-horns at events. The policy also includes language about the volume of play-by-play, and who can use the PA system. Tune in for the full report.
