FROM THE NEWSROOM: The town of Killingly is accepting requests for proposals for a new financial advisory consultant, related to the towns debt program. Finance Director Mary Calorio says that, due to changes in SEEC regulations, the towns current financial consultant pulled out of the market. Killingly must now replace those services. Costs are expected to remain level, once a new consultant is selected. “Weve received proposals, were reviewing them and looking at cost factors, but it would be pretty close to the same,” says Calorio. “It all depends on when we are doing capital projects and if we have to do any bond issuing or general obligation borrowing.” Calorio says the finance office anticipates that it will finalize review of the proposals and propose a contract to the town councils fiscal subcommittee in late January. That long-term contract would need to go to the town council for a full vote before being ratified.
