FROM THE NEWSROOM: (UPDATE) Democratic State Representative and candidate for the 29th District State Senate seat Mae Flexer is claiming that dozens of harassing phone calls she had received were traced by state police to an unknown phone number with a voice mail associating itself with the Senatorial campaign of her Republican opponent John French. Flexer described the incident which occurred on Tuesday evening, saying 40 phone calls from the same number were made to her in a two-and-a-half hour window; she said consistently, there was no one speaking on the other line when she answered, and described the situation as “unnerving,” which is why she went to police who are continuing an investigation. Earlier today, Flexer and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman held a press conference in Hartford about “intimidation tactics” they claim the Republican party is using to discourage women from running for office and voting. Attempts to contact the French campaign were not immediately returned.
