FROM THE NEWSROOM: Volunteers are still being sought for cleanups throughout The Last Green Valley, according to a recent press release. Upcoming cleanups in the region include one hosted by The Brooklyn Conservation Commission, a Planting Party and Town Cleanup Event on Saturday, May 3, from 10 am – 1 pm planting bushes and grasses on the nature trail area at Riverside Park; in addition, organizations, individuals, and families are invited to participate in a town-wide cleanup event to pick up trash along Brooklyn’s roads, parks, riversides and trails. The Killingly Parks & Recreation Department is also sponsoring a cleanup of Cat Hollow Park on Dog Hill Road in Dayville on Saturday, May 3, from 9 – 11 am. Volunteers are needed to help pick up leaves, branches, trash and dog waste. As part of this project, the Parks & Recreation Department will be installing dog waste receptacles to keep the park cleaner in the future The Town of Putnam and Putnam Business Association are also looking for volunteers to spruce up downtown areas in Putnam and Rotary Park on Saturday, May 3, from 8 am – noon. Other nearby cleanup events are also scheduled in Willimantic, Norwich as well as Webster and Dudley, Massachusetts.
