FROM THE NEWSROOM: WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — State Police say a judicial marshal in Waterbury Superior Court has been arrested on a charge of promoting prostitution. Michael Connelly was taken into custody by detectives last week. The Republican-American reports that State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance would not provide details. The 53-year-old Connelly was relieved of his duties and placed on unpaid administrative leave. Hes been charged with third-degree promoting prostitution, a felony. Hes worked as a marshal since 2000 and has worked for the judicial branch as a sheriff since 1982. The Republican-American said he did not return a call for comment Tuesday. His lawyer, Leonard Crone, said he needs more time to review the information and that he plans to mount a defense. Connelly is the brother of John Connelly, the former Waterbury States Attorney who died in 2012.
