FROM THE NEWSROOM: With a total increase of 2.37% from last year, the $34,306,462 education budget was approved by the Plainfield Board of Education to send to the Board of Finance at their most recent meeting. Even though the largest costs are typically in both special education and health insurance, Superintendent Ken Dipietro says that officials are pretty proud of how the pupil-personnel is at 1.12%, saying that out of a $5 million budget, the increase is only about $65,000. The reasoning for this is that ten students were brought back from out of district this year, which saved around $200,000 for the district. Dipietro calls the 2.37% increase fairly reasonable for the region, but makes note that the increases for each of the area schools only round to about 1-2% each. Tune in for more news.
