FROM THE NEWSROOM: With approximately 110 voters present, Plainfields $10.8 million government budget and $30.2 million education budget, along with the towns 5 Year Capital Improvement Plan were all passed. The two budgets were highly favored by Plainfield residents, which passed 89-8 and 100-5 respectively. First Selectman Paul Sweet explained that each item was voted on separately, and if one budget failed, both budgets would automatically fail, but Sweet was confident the budgets would pass with no problem. The mill rate had not gone up at all from the current years 28.36 mill rate, and there wasnt any controversy or anything to debate surrounding the two budgets. Sweet said it had been a smooth budget season, with all boards working well together. He said he is “happy with the way things are running.” The only complaint the First Selectman had was about the voter turnout, which he felt was a very small amount of Town residents. Tune in for details.
