FROM THE PULPIT NOW THAT YOU HAVE ACCEPTED CHRIST Text: Col 3:1 KJV If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. IRON SHARPENS IRON: Beloved, it is indeed a worthy thing to join you in giving God all the glory for the steps you have taken so far. Now, prayerfully look for a Church where Christ is preached, worshipped in Spirit and in Truth and the biblical doctrine tenaciously followed without compromise as there is the need for you to join the family of Christ where you will learn, encourage and admonish one another. The Word of God says we should not forsake the assembling of ourselves together for; ‘ iron sharpeneth iron.’ GROWTH: As newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby- 1Pet. 2:2. This is the greatest tonic a christian ever needs. As babies are fed on milk and other protein-based foods for a healthy growth, so does your soul need the Word of God for a healthy spiritual growth. Read the bible every day. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you as you open to read. Dont hesitate to ask questions in areas where you find difficult to understand. It is essential that you attend the Bible Study schedule of your local church. DIRECTION: This book of the law( the Bible) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shall make thy way prosperous, and then thou shall have good success- Joshua 1:8 KJV The above verse of the scripture has said all that you need to know concerning feeding your soul with the Word of God. It is very unhealthy to relegate the word of God to your drawer and remember it only on Sundays. The word of God keeps you from spiritual barrenness; for in it are all the promises of God for you and how you can tap into them. It is your light, and it is your guide. It keeps you from backsliding. It is your counsellor and your great companion. It makes you to bear fruit, which is the characteristic of a healthy Christian. Therein also lie peace, joy, comfort and abundance of blessing. SOLUTION: There is no difficulty whose solution is not found in the bible. In fact, all the problems you may find difficult to find answers to as a Christian can be traced to your inability to read and believe the Word of God. Let me put it this way; every roadblock (difficulties) you may encounter in your Christian life has in the bible the sledge hammer(solution) to dismantle it and you will have a smooth and safe passage(victory)- Jeremiah 23:29. PRECEPT BY PRECEPT: Read with full concentration; for the little you read with understanding counts more than the volumes you hurriedly go through.
