FROM: The Office of the Ordinary Chamber TO: The General Student Populace of UPSA SUBJECT : Re: REVIEW OF ELECTION DATE ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The Ordinary Chamber of the Judicial Council- UPSA SRC wish to advice the entire Student Populace of University of Professional Studies, Accra ( UPSA) that there is judicial ORDER from the chamber to the electoral commission to halt the conduct of the elections schedule for Friday 11th April, 2014. The ORDER is as a results of the electoral commissions breach of Article 12(6)(b) of the IPS-SRC Constitution which states that All elections shall be held between the second in March and the first week in April. The constitutionally stipulated period elapsed on Monday, 7th April, 2014. There was a proposed amendment to the above Article which was duly deliberated upon and approved by the General Assembly. Per Article 18(4) Each of various courses SHALL deliberate on the proposed amendment and SHALL be deem to have been effected if 2/3 of the members of each course vote in favor of it. This was violated by the Chairman of Council of Course Representatives per the report submitted to the Ordinary Chamber of the Judicial Council. Based on the above the Ordinary Chamber DECLINES the request to review the proposed amendment of Article 12(6)(b) of the IPS-SRC Constitution. The chamber therefore ORDERS the electoral commission NOT to conduct the elections as scheduled for Friday 11th April, 2014. Failure to comply to this ORDER from the Ordinary Chamber of the Judicial Council is subject to removal from office. The Chamber subsequently advice all students to refrain from participating in the election because the electoral commission has no locus to conduct the election.
