FROM [email protected] I am a Beekeeper in SW Minnesota - TopicsExpress

FROM [email protected] I am a Beekeeper in SW Minnesota that used to maintain 300 bee hives. I lost all but 2 due to pesticide poisoning. How do I know? well this area is surrounded completely by corn and soy beans, there is not one beeyard that didnt have GMO crops within 50 feet. I first noticed problem in 2007, losing over 100 hives in just weeks! A neighbour was genuinely concerned about my bees in his corn pile stored in a pole shed. I told him no problem the bees just think the dust is pollen, no harm. It took me 3 years to make the connection. Every year since then I lost 75 beehives in the fall that were still completely full of honey. I was shocked never in my life have I seen this, and I had bees all the way back to the 70s. There used to be 5 beekeepers of more than 50 hives in Lyon County of Minnesota today there are none left, and all but me have no idea why their out of business. Today I discourage all young people from entering beekeeping, its all misery as far as I can tell no one cares! Neonics are causing damage to the environment way past my little bee business. I believe we are heading for mass extinction of most of our insects and wildlife. I can just look around and see the birds are even disappearing, even the fish are suffering in this area according to the local fishery. If anyone wants to come and test my dead equipment for pesticide damage your welcome any time, please contact me by email [email protected]. I have a few hive still alive you can test them for pesticides also, I am hoping they have built up resistance to the poison. It is too late for me, as I am too old to start all over again. Please consider the future of our country without any pollinators!
