FRUIT SAFARI #5: We encountered some ripe Sandpaper Tree fruits (Ehretia anacua - Boraginaceae) at Possum Trot Nursery in Homestead. I did not know at the time that they are sweet and edible, hence one of its common names, Sugarberry. Ill have to try some soon, when I return. Robert Barnum, you might want to read the notes on my flickr photo as well - a great honeybee nectar, fragrant flowers, useful wood, wild bird food, etc. to compliment the use that you mentioned, as a natural sandpaper (even to sand steel!). This beautiful shrub/tree might be of interest to Green Deane as well.
