FT: Hull 1 Tottenham Hotspur 2 A goal apiece from Kane and Eriksen sealed the comeback and gave Spurs the 3 points at the KC stadium. Pochettino altered his lineup for our away trip to Hull, Vertonghen replaced Kaboul and partnered Fazio at the centre of defence with Eric Dier coming in at right back, Ben davies was given a rare EPL start replacing rose at the left flank and Hugo Lloris captaining the side. Pochettino employed a 4-4-2 diamond formation with Mason at the base, Lamela and Dembele playing wide and Eriksen playing at the tip of the diamond behind Harry Kane and Soldado. Hull started the game very well and were eager to get back to winning ways after some poor displays and pressed Spurs with high energy and intent, they used the flanks to their advantage with former Spurs men Huddlestone and Livermore at the centre of the park. Their bright start paid off when an aerial clearance from Fazio fell to Jake Livermore and the former Spurs man drilled in a low shot beating Hugo Lloris into the right corner of the net. Jake Livermore didn’t celebrate his goal against his former club out of respect. Spurs tried to hit back immediately but Hull kept them at bay and gave Eric Dier a torrid time through Brady and had a couple of good opportunities but Spurs held on. Ben Arfa shot high from close range which was one of the best opportunities Hull had. Jelavic held up the ball very well giving them a physical threat upfront. Spurs didn’t have the width to better a well organized Hull side and ended the half 1-0. Second half started with Vlad Chiriches coming on for Eric Dier who was already on a yellow card, this move was to provide that width Spurs needed and put some balls into the box for the strikers. Spurs started the half well but Hull seemed to hold their own in defence. Gaston Ramirez was sent off for a reckless off the ball fight with Vertonghen, with the Belgian making the most out of the situation in an effort to help his team. From then on it was all Spurs, we controlled the possession and tried to take advantage of a depleted Hull side. Roberto Soldado won a free kick which was well within shooting distance, Up stepped Christian Eriksen whose powerful shot hit the left post and fell to Kane who made no mistake of burying it in leveling up the score. Kane once again showed his goal scoring abilities taking his tally upto 11 goals this season. The fans were wonderful tonight once again and started chanting “Harry Kane he’s one of us” right after he scored. Hull sat back and played for a draw, they maintained shape very well and this was the perfect time for Pochettino to use it to his advantage. And he did so by bringing on Lennon for the Ineffective Dembele. Lennons paced posed a problem or two and he sent in an excellent cross which was mishit by Harry Kane. Vlad Chiriches played in an superb ball from the Right back position which found Soldado and the Spaniard missed by a small margin. The pressure heaped up on Hull as Spurs looked for another goal to seal the game. Paulinho was brought on for Soldado late on in the game. Just When we thought this was going into a stalemate Kane and Lennon combined really well and played it to Eriksen who took an excellent touch and unleashed an excellent shot from outside the box beating Mcgregor and sealing the game for Spurs. Players ran to the Spurs supporter’s ends and celebrated sending the fans into some much deserved joy! This was another excellent comeback win which will be the much needed morale boost the lads need. Pochettino is still trying to find his best 11 and formation, and he’s getting closer to it every game. The fans need to get behind him and back him up. Lamela had a good game although not a great one, good touches and passed the ball very well. Eriksen was our man of the match, he was industrious with his passing and showcased some excellent first touches and runs and won the game for us at the last minute with a brilliant goal. He’s finally showing signs of getting back to where he left off last season. Ryan Mason was absolute quality, sprayed the ball effortlessly and had an excellent game. Dembele didn’t have the best of game’s, his passing was quite ineffective too. Dier showed signs of trouble when facing a speedy winger like brady as RB is not his natural position. Fazio was massive aerially and showed composure on the ball, but has to improve his positioning although it’s very early for us to judge. Vertonghen had a very good game, was his usual calm self. Hugo Lloris surprisingly made a mistake which almost lead to goal but other than that he was his brilliant self making some excellent saves. Ben Davies had a good game bombing up and down the left flank with every opportunity. Vlad Chiriches had an excellent second half, played in some great crosses and seemed like a good fit at right back. Lennon was good with his tracking back and created an excellent chance for Kane through a cross. Kane was excellent as usual, getting a typical poacher finish being at the right place at the right time. Soldado showed some good passing and touches but his confidence is at a career low as he wasn’t able to convert the chances he got. This win takes us to 10th place in the table, level on points with Arsenal. Poch’s getting us there. #KeepTheFaith #COYS -Varun
